The Director of Construction is primarily responsible for providing leadership to motivate and ensure the performance of their direct reports in the areas of: daily management, supervision, coordination and successful completion of construction projects under their direction. Further, to ensure cost and time-line objectives are achieved with respect to contracting, scheduling, and contract administration.

- Establish construction project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy.
- Continuously evaluate the design and construction progress and team performances to ensure projects are built on schedule and within budget.
- Maintain a commitment to execute work and conduct business in a professional manner.
- Establish short and long range strategic plans and establish objectives, define methods of accomplishment and set forth the actions that lead to meeting the objectives consistent with overall corporate strategies.
- Develop, implement and communicate region policies, procedures, organizational structure, position descriptions and performance standards within the framework of broad corporate policy through the use of Personal Performance Management (PMP).
- Provide advice, guidance, and direction to subordinate executives and managers toward their professional development.
- Coordinate and confer with professional staff to resolve operating problems and difficulties, authorize department operational procedures, and approve all major bids or estimates.
- Utilize skills and resources for identifying, interviewing, recruiting and hiring highly qualified people that enable the business unit to achieve or surpass strategic plans.
- Maintain positive financial posture for assigned projects or subsidiary work segments and monitor cost analysis activities on a routine basis.
- Maintain routine client contact and continuously serve as an advocate for the client�s point of view. Champion understanding of the importance of meeting the needs and expectations of all prospects and clients.
- Work with the Senior Vice Delivery during the CDMP and/or exclusive negotiation to insure construction schedules and general conditions are reasonable and achievable
- Prepare and present to management bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually:
- Opportunities to increase profit
- Review of subcontracted work
- Review of self-performed trades
- Recruiting, training and growth
Requirements:
- BS in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology or a related Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics degree or the experience equivalent to a 4-year degree.
- This position requires 15-20 years of construction-related experience and 15 years of management/supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability in the areas of construction management, mastery in field operations, scheduling, budgeting/cost control, financial reporting, client relationships
- Able to recognize situations/problems, develop alternative solutions and implement decisions compatible with organizational goals.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, analytical and oral presentation and written communication skills are needed.

- Prioritize, organize and monitor activities and projects
- Work well and motivate people at all organizational levels
