Job Description:
Formed in 1986, American Home Builder has developed and built over 62 properties in 10 western states valued close to $1 billion. We are currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Vice President of Construction to join our dynamic and innovative construction team.
Acting under the direction of the President of American Home Builders, Inc. (AHBI), the Vice President of Construction will be responsible for the successful operations of the construction division of American Home Builders, Inc. The Vice President will supervise, evaluate and provide leadership for all members of the AHBI team, while consistently working towards the goal of providing quality projects, constructed on time and within budget. In addition, the Vice President of Construction will be responsible for ensuring successful pre-construction planning, project supervision, cost management, quality assurance, scheduling and pipeline forecasting for all projects, while overseeing all phases of construction to include:
Concept and Schematic Phase:
- Work with Development to assess opportunities and develop successful design
and construction strategies with each new site.
- Identification of local resources
- Estimating
- Scheduling
- Value Engineering
Construction Phase:
- Scheduling
- Sub-contractor pre-qualification
- Bidding/negotiation
- Site supervision and management
- Quality control with continuous on site observation
- Safety
Post Construction Phase:
- Warranty inspections and follow-up
Requirements:
- Must have experience performing risk assessment, procedure and control analysis, and procedure improvement recommendation/implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to embrace change and show flexibility in assignments and the work environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with senior level management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff members so they perform to the best of their abilities.
- Strong, demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to travel to any of our 10 western states with little notice.
Education/Experience:
- BA/BS in relevant field.
- Minimum 10 years construction experience.
