Job Description:
The University of Connecticut Office of Procurement & Logistical Services is seeking applications for the position of Director, Construction Procurement & Contract Administration.

Job Summary:
Provides leadership, guidance and technical expertise in the development of RFP's, bid documents, policies, procedures and standards for construction procurement and contract administration. Supervises, coordinates and executes large, multi-project responsibilities for the purchase of construction materials, services and subcontracts from qualified vendors and contractors in accordance with contract documents.

Minimum Accaptable Qualifications:
Candidate must have an advanced university degree, preferably in business or public administration, architecture, engineering, law or accounting. A four year degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and six to seven years experience in construction procurement may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. At least ten years of progressively responsible professional purchasing experience and the award and administration of professional and construction services including project management services, general and sub-contractors, design professionals and related construction service and commodities purchasing. Demonstrated integrity and ability to act without consideration of personal gain and take prompt action in the case of unprofessional and unethical behavior. Demonstrated ability and supervisory skills to train less experienced contract professionals and to coach, mentor and develop staff. Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing. Strong background and knowledge of construction contracting, estimating, construction scheduling, and construction methods, statues, code and regulations. An equivalent combination of credentials and/or experience may also be considered.

Position will be open until filled. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Other Desirable Qualifications/Skills:
Law degree; Certified Purchasing Manager/Certified Contracting Manager.
