Solage Hotels and Resorts has created a dynamic opportunity for Vice President of Project Development working out of our Marin County corporate office managing new resort development projects in the Western U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean.

Solage is a part of privately held Moana Hotel and Restaurant Group (www.moanahrg.com), which owns and manages a wide range of restaurants and hotels including several branded families and a variety of independent ventures. The founders and owners of Moana also own and operate Auberge Resorts (www.aubergeresorts.com), an international collection of renowned resorts including the acclaimed Auberge du Soleil in the Napa Valley and Esperanza in Los Cabos, Mexico. The companies work closely together sharing development opportunities, operational expertise, marketing resources and personnel.
Solage is planning an aggressive growth strategy, with 2-3 new projects per year. It is anticipated that most of these projects will be ground-up construction projects in which Solage will act as the developer. The Vice President of Project Development will be responsible for managing all aspects of the resort development process, from pre-development through construction.
Requirements:
Develop and maintain relationships and communication with key partners
Strong oversight commitment to final project
Ability to coordinate multiple projects across North America
Frequent travel across North America
More specifically, the individual's responsibilities will include the following:
Pre-Development Stage:
Assist in all due diligence activities including underwriting of new projects
Prepare development budgets
Direct all required third party studies
Interview, select and negotiate contracts with project consultants, including architects, interior designers, etc.
Work with other corporate team members in establishing design criteria and project requirements
Manage entitlement and approval process
Establish project schedule
Development Stage:
Coordinate and supervise project team meetings
Review design drawings and specifications to ensure compatibility with project vision
Identify, select and negotiate agreements with contractor and major subs
Coordinate finalization of construction documents
Prepare update and progress reports
Track and coordinate all change orders
Supervise the bidding and selection process of all vendors
Supervise the Punch List process during pre-opening of the property
Required Background Qualifications
BA Degree
5-10 years of real estate development project management experience, with a strong preference for hospitality experience
Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects
Strong references from previous employers
Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree in business, architecture, design, or engineering
Successful track record of managing new development or renovation projects with budgets in excess of $10 million
Professional project management designation (PMP or MPM)
Experience working as an architect, engineer or designer
