Job Description:
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the leadership and management of the company's finance function, as well at playing a leadership role for overall Shawmut. The CFO has oversight responsibility for financial operations, including accounting polices and procedures, systems and GAAP and leadership of the company�s 40 person finance organization. Responsibilities also include oversight of management reporting, financial control and treasury functions as well as relationships with commercial banks.

Reporting Relationships:
The Chief Financial Officer will join the senior management team and report directly to the Office of the President (CEO and COO) while working closely with the senior operations and division executives.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements
Financial Responsibilities
-Quickly demonstrate a grasp of the company�s capital structure and financial operations
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting polices and procedures, systems and GAAP
- Assess, update and scale for growth the company�s financial systems, processes, procedures and controls
- Maximize the functional value contribution by integrating new finance tools into operations providing new levers to financial performance

Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop, communicate and implement a sound financial strategy for the company that is cohesive and focused; including financial strategies for supporting and extending the company�s aggressive growth
- Conduct strategic analysis, implement strategic performance measures, and transform cost management into a value-adding function.
- Develop and lead a state of the art strategic planning process
- Develop strong Board relationships, providing/spearheading any and all needed support including information flow, quarterly board presentations and any other required Board communications.
- Work with the Office of the President and the Senior Executive team on integration of acquired operations

People Development
- Immediately take steps to drive a culture within and around the finance organization, demonstrating by example the value of and how to conduct honest, direct, non-political communication
- Assess the finance organization for core competencies; implement a program to develop, retain and recruit the skills needed for a world class finance team
- Lead, at the highest level of competency, the control, accounting and internal reporting functions
- Develop the picture of a world class finance function in the construction industry, and in business, in general, and institute plan to achieve it including best practices in financial management such as partnering with all managerial functions

Senior Executive Team Member
- Quickly establish credibility with the senior management team and become a leading driver of Shawmut�s culture and future vision.
- Quickly demonstrate credibility and add value in relationships with key internal constituencies including the Senior Executive team, the Board of Directors, Banking Partners as well as other key business partners
- Contribute experience in strategic transactions to the company�s vision and dialog as well as apply advanced analytical skills to the consideration and execution of acquisitions

Additional Background
Qualified candidates must have strategic financial skills commensurate with those of a sitting CFO in a company with revenues of approximately $700 million. His/her business experience must include strategic contribution, operations finance, functional oversight of multiple business units and success managing in a complex matrix environment with a Board of Directors.

The CFO will have a solid understanding of internal reporting and GAAP. Experience in achieving �world class� internal process and controls, planning and budgeting will also be requisite for the position.

Since contributing to the leadership forum is critical, strong character, board-level presence and effective communication skills are critical. It is critical that the CFO be viewed as a leader beyond the finance function, and throughout the company.
