"Help Wanted: National Director of Business Development - Science & Technology"

Construction Executive Job
Location:Varies
Estimated Cash Compensation: Unspecified

Job Description:
Top AE firm named Breuer Consulting, seeks Business Development leader for its Science and Technology Practice

As one of the nation's largest, most diverse AE firms continues to build its Science and Technology practice, the leadership seeks to add a National Business Development Director to the team. This is a new position with responsibility for identifying and nurturing opportunities throughout the country for the 30+ person group of experienced architects with staff in 6 locations.

Already quite successful without a fully-dedicated business developer, the group operates as a network of specialists. The group's focus is on academic science facilities, but will expand to include research for industry. Several of the leaders are nationally recognized for their LEED-based contributions to research environments. The Business Development role will be externally focused rather than internal, i.e. it won't be overseeing a marketing department's activities (promotions, proposals, awards, press releases, etc.) but rather actively pursuing opportunities through talking and meeting with prospective clients in a variety of venues to create opportunities for new business for the group in a substantive, serious, and professional manner.

Knowledge of and a network within the academic research community is crucial. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are mandatory. Also critical is the ability to be organized and work effectively with others across various levels of the firm, so large firm experience would be a plus. To be successful, you will have a keen sense of what it takes to convert a lead to a productive relationship beyond simply making introductions. You will help strategize and transform the opportunities you identify into long-term client relationships working with the senior leadership in the group.

This position can be located anywhere in the US that this firm has an office which is most metropolitan areas. If you know the science and technology sector and have experience inside a design firm helping to make introductions for the technical staff, you should consider the opportunity to deploy your expertise in one of the top 5 firms in the country. We'd like to talk with you about the opportunity and the contribution you could make.
