Job Description:
AMEC E&C; Services, Inc., an international project management and services company, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Contracts / Commercial Manager to provide both strategic leadership and management of the front-end proposal stage of industrial construction projects together with an overall obligation to support and report on the projects until their successful completion.
In this position, you will apply your in-depth understanding of construction law and site-based experience in industrial EPC and construction projects with a preventive eye on potential problems or liabilities. Typically working on $ 10MM-$ 150MM projects, you will be actively involved in early-stage negotiations and in preparing proposal and contract documentation, in addition to assessing project risk, having a key role and responsibility for negotiating the agreements among the parties, and being accountable for "making it happen."
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a construction-related field, sound knowledge of contract law and/or risk assessment pertaining to the construction industry, and proven pre-contract experience and reviewing of contracts as part of a bidding team for large plant facility construction. PE designation and a Juris Doctorate or equivalent contract law experience are highly desirable. Frequent travel is a requirement for this role.
Candidates must have proven experience of operating at the Senior Manager level with either a general or EPC contractor for at least 10 years, along with industrial construction site and process engineering experience to
including:
P & L / forecasting responsibility
Accountability for the commercial aspects of the Projects and Business Unit.
Focusing on the front-end contractual stage preventing problems from occurring both during and after the project; Evaluating and controlling risk across the Business Unit to support enhancement in business profitability.
Providing accurate and timely commercial reporting and contributing to the strategic direction and performance of the Business Unit.
Implementing AMEC's Contracting Principles and Divisional Commercial 'Best Practice' procedures and systems.
Implementing and managing the Divisional Tender Review & Risk Management processes.
Providing commercial and contractual advice to Business Unit Managers and arranging for the provision of legal, tax, treasury and other specialist advice as required by the Business Units.
Other duties as delegated by the Divisional Commercial Director.
