Job Description:
The main responsibility of the Vice President of Architecture is to supervise and coordinate all work activities in the Architecture Department. Duties include managing, staffing, planning, programming, design, working drawings, consultant coordination, permitting, and contract document coordination.
Primary Duties:
Effective manage staff and disseminate work to team.
Mentor staff and effectively manage departmental due dates.
Provide overall administrative and technical management guidance on all construction projects from inception through final acceptance by client.
Manage the complete planning, programming, design, and working drawings for the client.
Complete RFP�s for consultants to bid from, then contract and coordinate their work.
Provide quality control and coordination for all working drawings.
Provide coordination between architecture, estimating, and operations departments for multiple projects.
Review and process submittals, RFI�s CCD�s for contract administration.
Develop new business opportunities relative to a particular Client, group of Clients or geographical area.
Respond to RFP�s and assist in the development of proposals.
Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
Represent company in all project meetings. Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
Provide total project quality control.
Maintain Project Schedule
Skills & Experience:
Must display flexibility and creativity to operate in a fast-paced work environment.
Must be a licensed architect with 5 to 10 years experience in production and Project Management experience.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture Preferred.
Strong Emphasis on Building Codes and Regulatory requirements needed.
5 years of experience managing an architectural team.
Specialized Experience in Commercial Office, Healthcare, Retail, Office / Business Parks or Restaurant projects.
Have a thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities, superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
Possess proven communication skills. Must be a skilled in business with excellent communication skills - written, oral, and interpersonal.
Have strong computer skills with proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office 2000, and software literate in standard windows programs.
Be proficient in review and processing of submittals, RFI�s and CCD�s.
Control quality of the working drawing.
Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize project and staff performance.
The Vice President reports to the President, for Administrative, Accounting, and Business Development. The Vice President of Architecture will coordinate with Lead Project Manager on all construction aspects of the project. The Vice President of Architecture will make decisions and recommendations, which influence corporate relationship with Client and profitability of projects.
