"Help Wanted: Division Manager-Mechanical"

Job Description:
Summary of Position:
Responsible for overall operations of Division office resulting in maintaining projected volume / profit levels, improved customer relationships, quality installations and establishing the image of Southern Piping company as a leader in the mechanical contracting industry.

Specific Job Duties:
Develop and prepare operating budget for the division.
Develop and prepare budgets for equipment and building expenditures.
Initiate, prepare and submit monthly status reports as required by management.
Develop new market areas.
Establish wage rates and benefits for all personnel classifications consistent with overall company policy and guidelines.
Coordinate and oversee estimating procedures and activities with emphasis on productive labor forecasting and scheduling; maintaining an adequate and competent work force; meeting construction schedules; maintaining quality installations and ensuring estimated budgets are maintained.
Coordinate and oversee office management activities including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, maintaining adequate office supplies and equipment, general record keeping and routine reports.
Ensure training programs are available and implemented for staff.
Coordinate general building, grounds and equipment maintenance activities.
Review and approve tool and equipment purchases.

Reports to: President

Supervises: Project Managers, Estimators, Office Manager and Construction Department

Qualifications:
Ten years progressive experience in mechanical contracting industry, including five in a management capacity with P&L; responsibility.
Possession of H-1, H-2, and H-3 licenses as issued by State Board of Examiners of Plumbing and Heating Contractors
Solid working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems with an eye towards obtaining licenses in these fields
Licensing in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Sales oriented.
Broad knowledge of business management procedures and practices.
Ability to communicate with, motivate, and train all personnel at all levels of responsibility.
Ability to work with and develop sound relationships with owners, contractors, vendors, and architects/engineers.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education:
Degree from accredited college or university in a technical or business field; or degree from technical school plus three years progressive experience with a mechanical contractor; or high school diploma plus five years progressive experience with a mechanical contractor.

Southern Piping Company is a mechanical contracting firm that has been in business since 1965. Mr. Buren Williford started the business and is still involved on the Board of Directors. Mr. williford's three sons presently run the business. SPC has over 400 employees in NC and SC. Scope of business is commerical, industrial, governmental and institutional HVAC, piping and plumbing.
