SECOND ANNUAL ?MIDNIGHT AFFAIR? DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Miami, FL -- Design professionals throughout the state of Florida will be honored at the second Annual Midnight Affair Design Excellence Awards, to be held on February 28, 2004 in the Miami Design District. The deadline for entry is December 18, 2003, and entry kits are available for downloading at https://www.designmiami.com. The competition is open to all Florida professional and Licensed designers and architects. Completed entry kits should be mailed or delivered to Midnight Affair, 180 NE 40 Street, Miami, FL 33137.

Midnight Affair is a juried event. Categories for judging are: Private Residence Under 5,000 square feet; Private Residence Over 5,000 square feet; Condominium/Apartment; Singular Space; Hospitality; Workplace/Office; Healthcare/Institutional; Retail/Showroom; Historic Preservation; Outdoor Space.

All entries will be judged based on design merit including scale and proportion, color composition, innovation, creative use of space, functional use of space, effective use of lighting, appropriate solution of the design concept and relationship of materials, textures and patterns. Awards will not be based on the monetary value of each project.

Awards include winners in each category, and a ?Designer of the Year? award to be selected from the winners; The Bud Merle Foundation will present its ?Buddy Award,? for Outstanding Community Service; Interior Design Associations Foundation, (IDAF), will present its IDAF Award for Outstanding Legislative Support to the Interior Design Industry.

The Panel of Judges include Interior Designers DD Allen & Michael Pearce, Charles Gandy, Marietta Himes Gomez, Albert Hadley, Dakota Jackson, Hugh Latta, Eva Maddox, Juan Montoya, Margaret McCurry, Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, Michael Smith, Bunny Williams; architects Orlando Azcuy, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk; designers Barbara Barry, Larry Lazlo, Kelly Viceroy, Lella and Massimo Vignelli; and Linda O?Keefe of Metropolitan Home.

Midnight Affair is hosted by Dacra, developers of the Miami Design District, and Florida?s professional interior design organizations, including the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the International Design Association (IFDA), the Interior Design Guild Foundation (IDGF), the Interior Design Associations Foundation (IDAF) and The Bud Merle Foundation.

Major sponsors, such as Interior Design Magazine, Architectural Digest en Espanol, The Miami Herald and other publications and businesses in the industry, will also generously support the event.
