Job Description:
Duke is currently seeking a dynamic Director of Design and Construction for our South Florida location.
The Director shall be responsible for all Development Services, Pre-Construction, and Project Management activities in a single market where the company�s operating model is based on providing limited Construction Services compared to the traditional model of providing complete Design-Build and General Contracting Services. As such, depending on the size, capacity, and capability of the local construction staff, this will be accomplished either through complete outsourcing to consultants and general contractors, or through a combination of outsourcing and traditional direct management or self-performance.
Requirements:
Qualified candidates will possess a BS Degree in Engineering and/or Construction related field, have a at least 8 year of experience in construction with a minimum of experience in project and/or preconstruction management. The duties of the Director of Design and Construction will be the following; Manage the due diligence process for new ground acquisitions, creation of master plans, pursuit of approvals and zoning required for development, and creation and management of associated infrastructure budgets. Work closely with Leasing and Development staff to develop strategies and detailed plans to ensure optimal resource usage and alignment of efforts as required for each project. Develop relationships with, and establish a pool of qualified local consultants and contractors capable of supplementing the construction staff in an outsourcing capacity. Provide overall supervision, training, and development for local construction staff, and perform bi-annual performance reviews. As well as prepare weekly meetings, reviews, and contracts. Candidates will need to have experience in the aforementioned areas as well as have impeccable time management, organizational and communication skills.
