Vice-President of Construction, Bass Pro Shops, Springfield, MO 2005-2008
Established milestone management schedule for new store construction that allowed for overall coordination of multiple departments, resulting in reduced time to market and reduced pre-opening expenses for new store and restaurant openings. Implemented new accounting software and a change order management system that provided executive management with reliable cost tracking for the first time. Completed 28 new stores, 21 restaurants, 14 log cabins and 104 time share condominiums in 36 months. Oversaw a construction management staff of 13 direct reports and a total staff of 95 (construction managers, construction cost control, construction procurement, and fabrication shop).

Through improved scheduling and document management reduced the overtime labor at the companys fabrication shop by 80% for a savings of $500,000, in the first full year in the position.
Introduced national account construction material purchasing to the company, resulting in an average savings of $1.5 million per store.
Introduced competitive bidding to the delivery method for general contractors, producing savings in excess of $1million per store when compared to historical cost prior to 2005.

In a period of just under 11 years, managed the construction of 467 new stores, 300 full or partial remodels, 8 electronic and appliance service centers, 3 office buildings and 5 CarMax auto dealerships. Oversaw a construction management staff of 5 to 13 project managers and 6 administrative staff.
Co-managed the companys task force to the new store time to market timeline and construction cost.
The construction schedule was reduced from 160 days to 128 days, and costs were reduced by 26 % on
prototype stores.
Lead the company to seek vendors and consultants for sourcing of energy management and utility
company rate negotiations, resulting in a first years savings of $5 million dollars.

As a project manager for the nation's leading retail developer, directed the pre-development site evaluations, design, permitting and construction of over two million square feet of retail centers, located in six states. Responsibilities included selection of A/E firms, design direction, coordination of anchor tenants design and construction requirements, general contractor selection and management of the construction process. Oversaw project consultants and contractors to include; general contractor(s), architect, environmental, geotechnical, civil engineer, and landscape design.
Developed the departmental due diligence check list, which became the standard for use by all project managers.
Managed the construction of 3 major centers in Florida opening a total of more than 1 million square feet on the same day in three different locations.
